About the job
Key information
Taunton Deane Partnership College (TDPC) is one of four Pupil Referral Units commissioned by Somerset Council and Somerset schools, covering Taunton, Wellington and Wiveliscombe. We work alongside students (5-16 years) in several ways: those who have an EHCP naming us as their school; students with medical needs that inhibits their access to mainstream settings; those who have been permanently excluded from their mainstream school and in partnership with schools through our Centres and in Outreach. We wish to make the following appointment:
HLTA – Cooking
- 37 hours per week, term time plus INSET Days (39 weeks per year), permanent
- Start date: As soon as possible
- Salary: Grade 12 (actual salary range £24,047 – £26,959)
Are you ready for your next step?
Are you passionate about supporting and making a difference to students who have not always been successful in education? Do you believe in the power of relationship to transform student outcomes? If so, then we want to hear from you.
What will I be doing?
We are looking to appoint an HLTA to work primarily in our secondary Centres supporting students in Years 7 to 11 to develop their cooking skills. You must be confident to support students in a kitchen and have a talent for enabling them to see a meal through from design to completion. You will have the support and guidance of a teacher with regards to planning and developing sessions that enable students to hone their skills and channel them towards accreditation, including AQA Unit Awards and BTEC Cooking. You will take a lead role in running our kitchen which, for many of our students, is a place of success and nurture.
Our settings are small with high ratios of staff to students, enabling us to build secure relationships and tailor provision to suit student needs. You will pair with a teacher to act pastorally as a Tutor for a small number of students, connecting with their family/carers and ensuring their TDPC offer is right for them.
What is in it for me?
We recognise that our work is rewarding and challenging and aim to ensure that our staff have a good work life balance; we are a family friendly employer, and we offer staff supervision in-house. We are keen to support your Professional Development and there are opportunities for further training.
DBS check
Taunton Deane Partnership College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
