Lead an established home with a strong foundation – and make a lasting impact.
Homes2Inspire are seeking a passionate and experienced Registered Children’s Home Manager to lead our welcoming home in Chard, an established service rated Good by Ofsted. The home provides care and accommodation for up to two young people aged 10–17, both male and female.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a home with a warm, nurturing atmosphere and a dedicated team who work together to ensure every young person feels safe, valued, and supported.
What will I be doing?
About Homes2Inspire and Homes & Horizons:
Homes2Inspire is part of Shaw Trust, one of the UK’s largest charities and a leading not-for-profit provider of public services. We opened our first home in Northamptonshire in 2007 and are now the UK’s largest charitably owned residential children’s home provider.
Today, we operate nearly 60 homes, two supported accommodation developments, and deliver high-needs foster care through Fostering2Inspire and Homes & Horizons.
We believe every child deserves the best possible start in life. Our homes are nurturing, warm, and welcoming, and our dedicated teams provide safe, well-planned care for children and young people who have often faced significant challenges. We invest heavily in training and support for our colleagues because when we create a great place for children to live, we also create a great place for adults to work.
In 2022, Somerset Council entered a strategic partnership with Homes2Inspire and Shaw Trust to create Homes & Horizons an innovative model of care designed for children and young people with complex needs. The partnership delivers:
- 11 residential homes (8 currently operational)
- High-needs foster care for approximately 20 children
- An associated therapeutic education service
This wraparound approach integrates care, education, and NHS support to prevent placement breakdowns and reduce the need for Tier 4 CAMHS inpatient provision.
About the home and local area:
Chard is a vibrant market town in South Somerset, offering a blend of countryside living and excellent local amenities. The home itself is spacious, warm, and homely, providing a calm and supportive environment where young people can thrive. Our team take pride in creating a family feel and building strong relationships with the local community, schools, and partner agencies.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Leading the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring high standards of care and compliance.
- Inspiring and developing a passionate staff team.
- Building strong relationships with local services, schools, and community partners.
- Embedding therapeutic care practices and maintaining a positive culture.
- Managing safeguarding, health and safety, and all operational aspects.
- Working closely with the Responsible Individual and wider strategic partners to shape the home’s future.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
- Level 5 qualification in Leadership & Management in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it).
- At least two years’ recent experience in a supervisory or management role within a registered children’s home.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- A solid understanding of legislation and Ofsted regulations.
- A full UK driving licence.
What is in it for me?
- Competitive salary of up to £53,300, plus performance bonuses of up to £10,000.
- Generous annual leave (33 days including bank holidays).
- Comprehensive induction and ongoing training to support your development.
- Award-winning wellbeing support package, including clinical supervision.
- Life assurance, retail discounts, and healthcare cash plan.
