What will I be doing?

Are you an empathetic and pro-active individual with a passion for supporting children to raise aspirations and wishing to join a friendly and supportive team?

Ashlands Primary School is seeking to appoint enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistants and a Higher Learning Teaching Assistant to work alongside our class teachers to provide a stable, caring, stimulating and supportive learning environment, which enables pupils to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally.

The core purpose of the roles is to work with the class teachers to ensure all pupils are engaged in their learning and are making sustained progress, as well as promoting pupils’ independence, self-esteem and social inclusion. This will be through 1:1 and small group sessions.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

As HLTA, your duties will also include covering and leading class teaching and directing the work of other adults in supporting learning, as required. You will also use your expertise to contribute to the planning and preparation of learning activities.

The ideal candidates will:

  • Have previous TA experience and a good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Have a commitment to supporting and understanding pupil needs
  • Possess a positive, ‘can do’ and flexible attitude and be able to work collaboratively as part of a team; and
  • Have Relevant TA qualification or be prepared to work towards gaining Level 2 of the National Qualifications framework.
