About the job

Key information

Location: Mainly based in Taunton and Bridgwater

Contract: Full-Time, Part-Time, All Year Round or Term Time (we’re flexible!)

Are you an organised, compassionate, and proactive individual looking to play a vital role in supporting young people’s mental health?

What will I be doing?

At Young Somerset, we put young people first. As Somerset’s leading youth work and mental health charity, our services support thousands of children, young people and families—helping them navigate challenges and build brighter futures.

We are expanding our mental health and wellbeing services, and we’re looking for a detail-driven Administrator to support our clinical and non-clinical teams. You’ll help keep things running behind the scenes—ensuring that young people receive timely, coordinated, and effective support.

  • Managing incoming referrals and assisting with the triage process.
  • Logging and updating sensitive case information using secure databases.
  • Coordinating appointments, assessments and follow-ups for mental health practitioners.
  • Ensuring accurate and confidential record-keeping, including triage notes and outcome forms.
  • Supporting the production of service reports, presentations, and monitoring data.
  • Liaising with families, schools, and professionals with empathy and discretion.
  • Helping our teams stay organised, focused, and responsive.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

  • A highly organised multitasker, calm under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and comfortable with digital systems.
  • Excellent communication skills – particularly written accuracy and professionalism.
  • A keen eye for detail, especially when handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • A friendly, team-oriented attitude with a flexible and proactive approach.
  • Previous experience in health, education or wellbeing settings (desirable but not essential).

What is in it for me?

  • A competitive salary and benefits package.
  • A key role supporting life-changing mental health work.
  • Professional development and training opportunities.
  • A supportive, inclusive team where your work makes a real difference.

If you’re passionate about supporting young people and want to be part of a growing mental health and wellbeing service, we’d love to hear from you.
