Key information

  • Level 4 Business Analyst apprenticeship with national training provider, QA.
  • This is a 24 month apprenticeship (including assessments), starting in January 2026.
  • 37 hours per week, one day per week will be for study outside of the office.
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.

Somerset Council is on an exciting journey of transformation, and we’re looking for an ambitious Business Analyst apprentice to join our Service Design and Change team and help shape the future of the services we deliver and how we serve our communities.

What will I be doing?

As part of our Inspiring Innovation Programme, you’ll play a key role in supporting Service Designers and services themselves redesign processes and services to make them smarter, faster, and more customer-focused across the entire organisation. What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you:

  • Are a confident communicator who can engage and inspire others.
  • Are someone with drive, curiosity, and fresh ideas.
  • Have a passion for improving customer experiences.
  • Have a willingness to learn and work hard at your apprenticeship coursework that compliments the “on the job” training.
  • Have relevant work experience in this or a similar field.

Essential qualifications

  • Maths and English GCSE grade 4/C or higher.
  • At least 1 A-Level or Level 3 Qualification.

Future prospects

Apprentices will have the opportunity to apply for various positions on completion of the apprenticeship or will be supported to progress into similar positions with other employers.
