What will I be doing?
The purpose of this role is to support School Nurses and Health Visitors with the delivery of health and wellbeing services for children and families. You’ll be working under the supervision of a School Nurse or Health Visitor.
You’ll carry out delegated interventions, implementing evidence-based programmes of care, coordinating by priority of need and responding to individual health and care needs. Through effective health promotion, you will empower healthy lifestyles and contribute to positive outcomes through early support and prevention.
There is a requirement to work with vulnerable children and families in line with national and local policies relating to safeguarding children. You’ll be providing support and advice to children, families and schools regarding the health and wellbeing needs of children.
What you’ll do – key responsibilities
- Undertake defined, delegated clinical or therapeutic interventions.
- Implement programmes of care in line with current evidence, taking action relative to an individual’s health and care needs.
- Promote effective inter-professional and multi-disciplinary team working with peers, colleagues and agencies.
- Promote effective health promotion and empower healthy lifestyles.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
Essential
- Understanding of the importance of current evidence-based practice.
- Ability to treat individuals with dignity, respecting beliefs, culture, values and preferences.
- Proven experience in an education or health care role, with relevant placements / experience to the role, including supporting or contributing to the assessment and management of young people.
- Experience in working with children and an understanding of the development needs of children and their families.
- Previous provision and promotion of Think Family centred care and support, duty of care and safeguarding of individuals.
- Level 2 Maths and English GCSE or equivalent.
- Higher apprenticeship Level 5, or foundation degree, or diploma in relevant subject.
- Care Certificate is completed in all applicable areas within 12 weeks (pro rata) of commencement of contract.
- NNEB or equivalent e.g. CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education; BTEC National Diploma in Early Years; NVQ Level 3 in Early Years Care and Education; SVQ Level 3 in Early Years Care and Education
- Demonstrate ability to challenge areas of concern and work to deliver best practice.
- Ability to work flexibly.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to demonstrate compassion and honesty.
- Ability to speak fluent English as stated in Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016).
Desirable
- Research and development in the health and social care sector to inform and improve quality of care.
- Previous Community Care experience.
- Previous experience supporting children, young people, families and carers in promoting health and wellbeing.
- Previous experience working in a multidisciplinary team

- This is a fixed term role for 12 months, working 30 hours a week.
- Applicants must have a full valid driving licence and have access to a car for work. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010.
- 28 days of annual leave (additional to bank holidays)
