What will I be doing?

Our property function owns and manages over 5600 social rented homes, and we deliver most of our responsive repairs and investment via our in-house workforce to our homes, this includes many compliance activities. Our small number of commercial properties add variety to create an extensive and diverse portfolio.

We’re working to improve the lives of people here in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Leading on disrepair cases ensuring inspections, and housing condition reports are carried out promptly and within the protocol timescales and liaison with legal services.
  • Providing specialist professional expertise and knowledge and delivering building pathology assessments of defects, and specify works required to rectify faults.
  • Undertaking professional building surveys; preparing schedules of work and tender reports with effective financial appraisals, providing recommendations on forms of contract and specific clauses.
  • Leading on the provision of specialist advice on the selection, appointment, retention, and fees for specialist remedial contractors e.g., Damp and mould, and structural experts.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you:

  • Have experience working within the social housing sector.
  • Have extensive experience in damp and mould issues and disrepair cases.
  • Have experience in undertaking property related building pathology surveys.
  • Are detailed and up to date with knowledge of all property related statutory responsibilities, government policy, Regulatory requirements, approved codes of practice and guidance,
  • Have sound working knowledge of building regulations.
