This role is being recruited by Somerset Council on behalf of the Somerset Safeguarding Children Partnership (SSCP).

What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of children and families in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that.

We are seeking an exceptional candidate who will lead the SSCP Business Unit into the next phase of its development. The role is high profile across the children’s workforce, and demands a sound knowledge of the children’s safeguarding agenda. The work can be fast-paced and demands a high-degree of flexibility. You will have a strong background in partnership working for the benefit of children, young people and families. The role demands high-quality support to senior and operational leaders across the Somerset children’s workforce, so the ability to establish strong, professional relationships across all sectors, including health, education, police, social care and the private and voluntary sector is essential.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

You will:

  • be a confident communicator, you will also be proactive and able work on your own initiative, with strong written and communication skills.
  • be educated to Degree Level (Social Care, Education, Health, Police) with experience of working as a manager with children in need of protection and children in safeguarding settings.
  • have evidence of work related continuing management development.
  • have significant professional operational and management experience of children and families work.
