Adult Social Care Business Support Supervisor supporting services across the county. Responsible for managing a team delivering efficient, high‑quality administrative support, overseeing workloads, developing staff, monitoring performance, and driving continuous improvement. Based in a Somerset office with flexibility to travel to other locations.
What will I be doing?
- Deliver project research and support first-line project management across services.
- Analyse and interpret operational, performance and resource data to inform decision-making and service improvement.
- Lead the implementation of new systems, processes and ways of working, ensuring clear communication and effective team engagement.
- Support budget monitoring, investigate queries, and contribute to financial planning and reporting.
- Act as a key contact for business support and finance queries, providing advice to colleagues, partners and the public.
- Manage and support staff, including handling complex or challenging situations and maintaining high team performance.
- Investigate issues and provide solutions, using negotiation and influencing skills where needed.
- Coordinate and support meetings, including multi-agency work, ensuring deadlines and requirements are met.
- Attend meetings and contribute to service development and continuous improvement.
- Champion equality, diversity, inclusion, health and wellbeing in all activities.
- Support office and facilities management, ensuring a safe and effective working environment
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
- Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with colleagues at all levels
- Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
- Well organised with strong accuracy and attention to detail
- Resourceful approach and able to use own initiative with minimal supervision
- Ability to speak fluent English (as required)
- Experience working in an administrative role
- Experience of team working
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 or 5 GCSEs (including Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above)
- Good standards of literacy and numeracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Positive, committed and adaptable approach
- Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality
- Flexible approach with ability to reprioritise workload
- Strong teamwork and collaborative working skills
- Good communication skills at all levels
- Reliable with a proactive “can do” attitude
- Tactful and diplomatic
- Previous supervisory experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint
