Key information
Following the retirement of our long serving Caretaker, the school is keen to recruit a new Caretaker for 22.5 hrs a week, term time only, plus 4 weeks holiday cleaning / maintenance. Timings can be flexible for the right person.
Starting pay scale Grade 14: Currently £25,185 – £25,989 p.a. pro rata. (£13.05 – £13.47 per hour) For 42 weeks per year (paid for 48.0866 weeks per year, increasing to 48.7285 after 5 years’ service).
What will I be doing?

- Unlock and check site, attend to emergency repairs or H+S issues inc. snow/ice; leaks, heating
- Emergency contact for alarm call-out
- End of day site safety
- Daily internal and external maintenance, liaise with Business Manager on larger matters
- Layout rooms for exams, lettings etc as required
- To lead and work with the cleaning team to ensure standards are met
- Work with Business Manager to ensure COSHH, H+S, risk assessments are up to date.
- Undertake training where required eg. Premises Management, Asbestos Awareness, Safeguarding, Fire Awareness
The ideal candidate will have previous maintenance or handyman experience and knowledge of Safeguarding and Health & Safety Procedures.
Essential times to be covered:
07:00 – 08.00 for unlocking and site prep / checks etc
14:30 – 18:00 for cleaning, maintenance, safety issues and locking up.
The Caretaker is a critical part of school life, maintaining standards across the premises. The role will be challenging and require flexibility but will also be very rewarding.

All posts require suitable references, health check return and successful clearance through the DBS (Disclosures and Barring Service). The school site is entirely a non-smoking area, and we actively promote the safeguarding of children.
