About the job

Key information

  • Permanent, full time position, 37 hours per week Monday to Friday.
  • 25 days annual leave (not including bank holidays).
  • Based in Taunton.

What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that.

You’ll be working in the local community, managing our temporary accommodation, and building relationships with our tenants so that you can help them sustain their tenancies. You’ll be doing things like helping them with documents, making sure their homes are safe and handling any issues that come up.

The people we support can be vulnerable and have complex needs and the work we do with them has a significant positive impact on their quality of life.

You could be a part of that.

It’s a rewarding job – one where you can use your skills and experience to improve the lives of the people who need it most.

We’ll help you to develop and broaden your skillset – after all, it’s in our interest to help you be the best you can be. For example, we can support you in gaining a CIH qualification.

You’ll also be working with a range of partners (for example social care, police and voluntary organisations). We’ll need you to build and maintain strong relationships with them so we can deliver the best outcomes for our tenants.

Although you’ll be able to work from home at times (1-2 days per week depending on workload), the majority of the time will be spent out in the community, working closely with tenants and teams we’re in partnership with.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be.

You’ll need proven experience of working in the social housing sector and the ability to work closely with customers to tackle complex issues.

As part of this role, you’ll be dealing with challenging situations (for example, ant-social behaviour), so you’ll also need to be resilient, with problem-solving skills and the ability to implement solutions.

We’re proud to be here for the people of Somerset. And that means everyone in Somerset. An important part of this is ensuring that we are as diverse and inclusive as the people and communities we serve.

We welcome applications from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences to enrich our team. You can always contact the hiring manager for a chat if there’s anything you want to talk about before you apply.

What is in it for me?

We are proud to offer an environment that is supportive and rewarding, working as part of a team who are passionate about the work they do to improve the lives of people in Somerset.

We offer great training and development opportunities, with supportive management. As well as this, we have some fantastic employee benefits available:

  • We promote a healthy work-life balance and offer flexible working arrangements wherever possible, including working from home.
  • Generous annual leave allowance, with the opportunity to purchase additional leave.
  • Staff discounts in gyms.
  • Employee Assistance for the times you may need some support and a variety of employee wellbeing services.
  • Auto enrolment onto our generous Pension Scheme and optional pension enhancement through our Additional Voluntary Contribution scheme.
  • A Flexible Benefits Scheme via salary sacrifice to obtain a cycle for work and health screenings.
  • My Staff Shop offering discounts in shops, online shopping, restaurants, cinema tickets, insurance benefits and more…
