Curry Mallet Church of England VC School is seeking to appoint a Clerk to the Board of Governors.
Part Time: 70 hours over the course of the academic year, which include,
- 10 hours per full governing board meeting 5 times per year (50 hours)
- Sub- committee meetings 3 hours 3 times per year. (9 hours)
- Clerks Briefing 3 hours per term (9 hours)
- Admin time 2 hours

We are looking to appoint a Clerk to the Board of Governors to start 01 September 2025.
What will I be doing?
The board, through its appointed and elected governors, plays a distinctive and essential role in the continuing success and development of the school.
The clerk’s job is to work with the Chair, other governors and headteacher, in dealing with administrative matters for the board and advising on procedural issues of governance and the board’s statutory duties. Central to the role is preparing for, taking notes at and producing minutes for meetings.
The post involves some evening work and the successful candidate may need to be available at times during the day. Good keyboard skills and the ability to write agendas and produce accurate concise minutes are essential. Integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
New clerks receive advice, support and training from the SSE Education Governance Team and all clerks are encouraged to attend half termly briefings to update themselves on the latest developments in governance.
We are looking for a Clerk who has:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience with administrative tasks
- Ability to write agendas and produce accurate concise minutes
- Strong IT/keyboard skills
- A calm, positive and professional demeanour
- Integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality
