What will I be doing?

As a Client Finance Assistant, you will make a real difference by helping to safeguard and manage the finances of vulnerable adults. You’ll support Court of Protection applications, oversee financial arrangements for service users who lack capacity, and ensure everything is managed in line with legislation, best practice, and the requirements of organisations such as the DWP, banks, and the Court of Protection.

  • Support vulnerable people with complex financial arrangements and sensitive financial matters.
  • Apply the Mental Capacity Act and best-interest decision making with confidence.
  • Use sound judgement and strong problem-solving skills to balance legislation, guidance and individual needs.
  • Manage a varied workload effectively, prioritising competing demands and meeting deadlines.
  • Build positive relationships and provide clear advice to service users, families, colleagues and partners.
  • Work collaboratively with social care professionals, legal representatives, government bodies and financial institutions.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

  • Experience in a finance or administrative environment.
  • Strong IT skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Good knowledge of welfare benefits, banking processes, Court of Protection and Office of the Public Guardian procedures.
  • Fluent English communication skills.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/Level 4+ in English and Maths, or relevant administrative experience.
  • Numerate, literate, organised and adaptable, with a confident and proactive approach.

Based at our modern, refurbished County Hall offices in Taunton, and the option to work flexibly from home.
