This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in ensuring transparency, accountability, and strong financial oversight within the Council. The Audit Committee is a cornerstone of Somerset Council’s governance framework, providing independent scrutiny of risk management, internal controls, and audit processes.
As a Co-opted Member, you’ll:
- Bring an independent perspective to key decisions
- Help ensure public funds are managed responsibly
- Support effective internal and external audit practices
- Contribute to the integrity and efficiency of local government
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
Who can apply? We welcome applications from individuals who:
- Are not elected members of Somerset Council
- Have an interest in public services and good governance
- Have no personal or business relationships with current elected members
