What will I be doing?

Are you passionate about public services and good governance? Do you want to make a meaningful contribution to your community? Somerset Council is looking for Co-opted Members to join its Audit Committee

This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in ensuring transparency, accountability, and strong financial oversight within the Council. The Audit Committee is a cornerstone of Somerset Council’s governance framework, providing independent scrutiny of risk management, internal controls, and audit processes.

As a Co-opted Member, you’ll:

  • Bring an independent perspective to key decisions
  • Help ensure public funds are managed responsibly
  • Support effective internal and external audit practices
  • Contribute to the integrity and efficiency of local government

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

Who can apply? We welcome applications from individuals who:

  • Are not elected members of Somerset Council
  •  Have an interest in public services and good governance
  • Have no personal or business relationships with current elected members
