Role Overview

As Company Secretary, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient governance of Young Somerset. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, Chair of Board of Trustees and working closely with our Board of Trustees, you will be responsible for compliance, reporting, and the effective administration of charity governance.

What will I be doing?

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and governance best practices.
  • Manage Board and Committee meetings, including preparation of agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions.
  • Maintain statutory records, filings, and correspondence with the Charity Commission and Companies House.
  • Support Trustees in fulfilling their responsibilities and provide governance guidance.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including auditors and regulators.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with governance practices in charities or similar organisations, knowledge of charity law and governance is an advantage but not essential.
