What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that.

Reporting to the Operational Section Leader, you will be supporting the service in delivering statutory and non-statutory cremation and crematory operations, ensuring the effective running and operation of our service at Taunton Crematorium.

You will be able to work effectively as part of a team and alone when required, within the Crematory as well as all aspects of maintenance within the Crematorium grounds. This will include driving, the use of a diverse range of machinery, mowing, strimming, digging and clearance.

You will be prepared to work additional hours as necessary to cover late and weekend services/cremations, including covering sickness and annual leave. You will be expected to carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities within the overall function, commensurate with the grading and level of responsibilities of the post.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

You might not have considered this line of work before; however full training will be provided with ongoing career development opportunities. The work is varied and rewarding. You will have lots of transferable skills that you can be developed.

This role requires flexibility and pulling together as a team to support each other to provide exceptional care and service for the people of Somerset.

You will need to be organised and have exceptional attention to detail, ensuring that the services we provide are delivered to the highest quality.

You will be comfortable communicating with service users and team members, in a respectful and dignified manner.

You will have experience of using IT systems and processes such as Outlook and Microsoft Word.
