Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Data Team Assistant to join our Fire Control team. You will join us on a full time basis working 42 hours per week, on a fixed term contract until 31 January 2027.

This role is available on Grey Book Control Terms and Conditions and you will receive a competitive salary paid at the Crew Manager Development Rate of £38,039.00 (gross) per annum. The role is based in our Control Room at Service Headquarters in Exeter.

What will I be doing?

Key responsibilities of the Data Assistant role:

  • Assist in managing the Control mobilising system to meet the requirements of the Service.
  • To check and carry out the recording of information within Fire Control Service systems relating to premises which present an unusually high risk in the context of operational response.
  • Ensure all data held by Fire Control is compliant with the General Data Protection Regulations and to establish processes and procedures to maintain compliance.
  • Assist the Fire Control Management team in developing and managing effective resilience procedures for all critical systems.
  • When required collate information from a range of sources to support investigations, respond the Freedom of Information requests and assist with the production of statistical information and proactively provide information and advice.
  • Provide assistance with the development and delivery of improved appliance availability and mobilising to maximise the effective use of resources.
