Inspiring leadership in a school where every child can “Grow, Thrive, Flourish”

Cannington Church of England Primary School is a warm, inclusive and ambitious village school rooted in Christian values and known for its nurturing, family centred ethos. Set in the heart of the historic village of Cannington, our school is proud of its rich heritage, strong community relationships and its vision for every child to grow academically, spiritually and personally.

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and dedicated leader to join us as our Deputy Headteacher & SENDCo, with one day per week teaching. This is a key leadership role within our school, combining strategic influence, day-to-day operational leadership, and the privilege of directly shaping classroom practice.

About our school

Cannington C of E Primary School is a thriving, inclusive village primary with around 170 pupils, serving the local community since 1856. We are proud of our close links with St Mary’s Church and the Diocese of Bath & Wells and are rated Good for leadership, behaviour and attitudes.  We are committed to meeting the needs of all learners, including the 17.2% of pupils (29 children) identified with SEND, who benefit from strong support and inclusive practice across the school. Our current attendance sits at 95.1%, reflecting pupils’ enjoyment of school and the strength of our pastoral systems. In addition, 15% of our pupils (26 children) are eligible for Pupil Premium funding, and we work proactively to ensure this group achieves highly and thrives both academically and socially.
