Due to an internal promotion, an amazing opportunity has arisen within Watery Lane Preschool. We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic and organised individual to join our team as a Deputy Manager. If you are highly motivated, flexible, experienced in early years leadership and have a genuine passion for working with children then we’d love to hear from you.
What will I be doing?
The role:
- Supporting the Preschool manager in developing and leading the team
- Encourage colleague development and fostering a culture of collaboration and reflection through mentoring, coaching, training and performance management
- Support the manager with providing leadership on educational programmes and our curriculum aligning with the EYFS
- Support the manager to ensure the highest standards of childcare and operational efficiency
- Manage rotas to ensure correct ratio levels are maintained at all times and organise cover where required due to planned and unplanned staff absence
- Implement and maintain health and safety standards ensuring risk assessments are completed as required
- Be responsible for our admissions programme including organising open days, home visits, managing our waiting list and organising the admissions
- Organise specific additional events for sessions in collaboration with the room supervisors
- Drive a positive and collaborative work environment
- Be a role model to all colleagues
- Have a thorough working knowledge of the Preschool’s policies and procedures
- Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Deputise for the manager in their absence
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
What you’ll need to succeed:
- A passion and dedication to providing outstanding childcare
- Previous experience as a deputy manager or room leader / supervisor
- Hold a full and relevant L3 childcare qualification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong people management and leadership skills
- Strong problem solving and organisational skills
- Always willing to learn and seek improvement
