- Based in County Hall, Taunton with some remote working possible and flexible working arrangements to be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
- 30 days annual leave (pro rata for part time hours).
- This role comes with continuing professional development opportunities, as well as significant exposure to learning across the public health team role.
- 3 years fixed term post until 31 March 2029.
What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:
- Leading the development, coordination and delivery of Somerset Strategic Drugs and Alcohol Partnership.
- Provide expert leadership to guide multi-agency collaboration, influence policy and guide strategy development and implementation in drugs and alcohol.
- Work closely with partners across the county, including across Somerset Council departments; police; probation, the NHS, Department of Work and Pensions; the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise sector and others.
- Lead the development of a workstream to better understand and prevent drug and alcohol related deaths and harm in Somerset.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you have:
- A degree or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant field.
- Strong understanding of national and local substance misuse policy, strategy and implementation.
- Comprehensive knowledge of multi-agency partnership systems, including how public health, local authorities, NHS bodies and policing structures collaborate to reduce substance-related harm.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in public health or similar field.
