About the job

Key information

  • 22.2 Hours per week.
  • 28 days annual leave pro rata.

What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that.

You’ll be coordinating early intervention strategies across teams and communities, to help ensure positive community wellbeing.

Working with various teams across the Council, as well as working collaboratively with key stakeholders, you’ll be identifying potential risks and needs for individuals, while fostering collaboration across teams to find proactive solutions.

Using your substantial problem-solving skills, you will take the lead in finding lateral, logical solutions as part of individual concerns and wider implementation strategies. You will have the ability to think outside of the box to create unique solutions, and you’ll also be able to recognise other people’s expertise and empower them to help find the best answers.

You’ll be working with different people of all ages throughout the community, as well as internal stakeholders, so you’ll need to have excellent people skills. The ability to engage positively with individuals and communicate your ideas effectively will be key to this role.

You’ll also be responsible for the longer-term monitoring of outcomes, reporting on their effectiveness and continuously seeking ways to improve strategies.

This is a significant role within our service with lots of varied responsibilities. If you think you meet the skills and background required, then we would love to hear from you!

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you have:

  • Knowledge and experience of early intervention strategies.
  • Knowledge and experience of community engagement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Degree in social work, community development or a related field.

We’re proud to be here for the people of Somerset. And that means everyone in Somerset. An important part of this is ensuring that we are as diverse and inclusive as the people and communities we serve.

We welcome applications from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences to enrich our team. You can always contact the hiring manager for a chat if there’s anything you want to talk about before you apply.
