The Governors of Barwick and Stoford Community Primary School wish to appoint an inspirational part-time Headteacher to lead, shape and influence our future while building on our strengths to ensure continual improvement and success.

Barwick and Stoford is a small rural primary school in South Somerset, which also includes our on-site pre-school, Jack’s. Our school, which is currently rated Requires Improvement by Ofsted, strives to embed a culture which sees our community working collaboratively, to achieve our common goals. These are very much centred upon supporting the development of every child, in a way that makes learning both enjoyable and meaningful. We aspire to be a place where a love of learning is promoted by motivated staff, within a safe and happy environment and in which every person flourishes. This is clearly centred on developing the children in our care in a way that will allow them to set an example and achieve to the best of their ability.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We are seeking to appoint a candidate whose leadership will:

  • be prepared to think and plan strategically and creatively in order to ensure a relentless drive to raise standards for all pupils
  • be open to the opportunity and challenge of moving the school into its next stage of development and improvement, working with a range of external partners, organisations, and advisors
  • bring an infectious level of enthusiasm, targeted at allowing our setting to become all that it can be
  • require a determined focus on agreeing a clear sense of purpose that has the needs of the children at its very heart
  • have the ability to share a vision that will inspire children, parents, staff, and the wider community
