Key information

  • This Health Improvement Practitioner role is hybrid working, with
    contractual work-base at an agreed Somerset Council location.
  • We have one 22.2 hour post available.
  • This role will work within our Somerset Smokefree Service to develop innovative approaches to help people quit smoking including the use of vapes.
  • You will also develop new partner relationships to reach targeted groups in workplaces and community settings.
  • This is a 3 year fixed term appointment.

What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Working as part of a multi-Disciplinary team to help Somerset residents and families achieve healthier lifestyles.
  • Providing ‘light touch’ support and advice to smokers who wish to quit including advice and guidance in the selection of vaping devices.
  • Identify and build relationships with partners who can help us to reach groups with high smoking prevalence.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you:

  • Can communicate with a wide range of people both in 1:1 and group settings.
  • Build relationships with community partners to help us reach communities experiencing health inequalities.
  • Have experience of managing a caseload and maintaining concise records.
  • Have a motivational interviewing qualification and / or experience.
  • Access to/use of a vehicle is an essential requirement for this post
