About the job

Key information

Taunton Deane Partnership College (TDPC) is one of four Pupil Referral Units commissioned by Somerset Council and Somerset schools, covering Taunton, Wellington and Wiveliscombe. We work alongside students (5-16 years) in several ways: those who have an EHCP naming us as their school; students with medical needs that inhibits their access to mainstream settings; those who have been permanently excluded from their mainstream school and in partnership with schools through our Centres and in Outreach. We wish to make the following appointment:

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

  • 37 hours per week, term time plus INSET Days (39 weeks per year), permanent
  • Start date: As soon as possible
  • Salary: Grade 12 (actual salary range £24,816 – £27,827

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

Are you ready for your next step?

Are you passionate about supporting and making a difference to students who have not always been successful in education? Do you believe in the power of relationships to transform student outcomes? If so, then we want to hear from you.

We are looking to appoint an HLTA to work in our Primary Centre. You must, however, be confident to support students across all age ranges (5-16) both in and out of the classroom; this will include the planning and delivery of sessions and enrichment activities that enable students to access their learning.

What is in it for me?

Our settings are small with high ratios of staff to students, enabling us to build secure relationships and tailor provision to suit student needs.

We recognise that our work is rewarding and challenging and aim to ensure that our staff have a good work life balance; we are a family friendly employer, and we offer staff supervision in-house. We are keen to support your Professional Development and there are opportunities for further training.

DBS check

TDPC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children; successful candidates will be required to demonstrate a high awareness of these areas and undergo an enhanced DBS check. We also conduct online checks of all applicants during the shortlisting process.

Supporting documents and information

We hope this gives you a flavour of TDPC and look forward to receiving your application. If you would like an informal discussion with our Headteacher, please email our Office Manager, Jo Reynolds on JReynolds@tdpc.somerset.sch.uk and she will be able to arrange this for you.

We welcome applications from TAs and HLTAs in mainstream schools, special schools, PRUs and alternative provision.

Please email your completed application form to Jo Reynolds at JReynolds@tdpc.somerset.sch.uk.
