What will I be doing?
We are passionate about supporting our young people to succeed both academically and personally and are looking to appoint a permanent Learning Support Assistant with additional responsibility for providing emotional literacy support (ELSA-style interventions) to pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis. Your expertise will support pupils with social, emotional and additional learning needs, helping them to build resilience, confidence and the key skills they need to succeed.
We are a thriving school with a team of experienced and friendly staff. At Birchfield we refer to the ‘Teaching Team’, and as a member of that you will be fully supported in your day to day role. The person appointed would be expected to work collaboratively with the class teacher along with many other members of staff.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
The successful candidate will:
- ideally be able to share experience of previous good classroom practice including providing 1:1 and small group Emotional Literacy Support
- be able to support the class teacher/year group across the whole curriculum
- have experience of working with their own groups
- be able to show evidence of relevant training.
- display a range of attributes including personal organisation, initiative, enthusiasm and a caring nature
- be flexible, adaptable, and be able to provide support and challenge
What is in it for me?
In return we offer you a school with huge ambitions, wonderful children, a dedicated team of staff and supportive parents and Governors. Visits are welcomed and encouraged.
