About the job
What will I be doing?
UCS College Group (“UCS”) operates an Ofsted graded Outstanding provision for NEET and SEMH learners at Cannington College, within a dedicated and bespoke site known as Crockers. This specialised provision offers tailored and supported pathways for complex and vulnerable learners, enabling them to engage in education in a setting that meets their individual needs. The impact of this provision is both transformational for learners and highly beneficial to reducing risk and increasing positive contributions within the local community.
The provision at Crockers uses a highly practical and engaging curriculum to educate and re‑engage learners who may have experienced multiple exclusions, poor attendance, learning within an alternative provision, in the care of the local authority or who have been out of formal education for a significant period of time.
This is an exciting time to join a highly skilled and experienced team with an unprecedented track record of Ofsted Outstanding judgements. You will course lead a curriculum and work closely and consistently with students to re‑engage them in education through a practical, nurturing and relational approach while supporting them to reduce risk‑related behaviours.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
The post-holder will be motivated, enthusiastic and a strong team player who strives to deliver the best possible outcomes for our SEMH learners. They will deliver highly effective Teaching, Learning and Assessment (TLA) through a practical curriculum within Foundation Learning to re-engage leaners who may have been out of/or who have been excluded from mainstream education
The postholder should have high aspirations for young people with SEMH, and will work alongside students and the curriculum team to reduce risk behaviours ensuring that our young people work towards further education, employment and a safe and healthy adult life. The role will involve maximising learners’ potential to make positive progress towards their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and/or personalised outcomes, aspirations and ultimately support sustainable destinations. The ideal candidate will have experience with working with learners with SEMH and have a specialist area of expertise in positive behaviour management that will benefit the department. They will promote inclusive practice, deliver high quality lessons and develop individualised teaching, learning and assessment approaches through bespoke timetables and a range of curriculum opportunities.
