Key information

We are looking for Midday Welfare Assistants to join our friendly team’s at Polden Bower School based in Bower Lane & Albert Street. Working term time only Monday to Friday 11.00 am – 2.00 pm each day – 15 hours per week plus Inset days to start in September 2025.

This is a Grade 16 post. Approximate annual gross salary £9,021, monthly £751.

Our students have a wide range of learning needs. We offer a personalised curriculum alongside a wide range of enrichment opportunities and interventions.

What will I be doing?

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising and assist students with their midday meal
  • Attending to pupils’ personal care needs
  • Supporting children’s play during lunchtime encouraging constructive and imaginative play.
  • Helping to clear the hall and classroom keeping them clean and tidy
  • Support in the classroom where needed around the lunchtime period
  • Willingness to undertake training to support their role and an understanding of the requirements to attend safeguarding sessions

Applicants should be:

  • Able to work alongside others to ensure independent life skills are practiced and developed throughout the day
  • Able to demonstrate a positive and enthusiastic approach
  • Enjoy working with children and young people
  • Some personal care will be involved
  • Well organised and very reliable
