Key information

Hours: 20 hours per week, all year-round; working days: Thursday and Friday. Hours 8am – 6pm across 2 days.

Salary: Grade 14 Point 4 currently £25,185 FTE (actual on 20 hours per week = £13,613) , increasing to Grade 14 Point 6 currently £25,989 (actual on 20 hours per week = £14,048) FTE after a successful 6 months probation period.

Annual Leave: 5 weeks plus bank holidays

Contract term: Permanent/Part-time

About Us:

Huish Nurseries @ North Curry Primary School is a well-established, friendly nursery dedicated to providing high-quality care and education for children aged 6 months – 4 years old, open 50 weeks of the year from 8:00am- 6:00pm Monday to Friday.

We believe in creating a safe, stimulating, and fun environment where children can explore, learn, and develop at their own pace.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We are looking for candidates who are able to:

  • Provide a warm, welcoming, and inclusive atmosphere for children and families.
  • Plan and deliver engaging activities that support children’s developmental milestones.
  • Observe, assess, and record children’s progress to ensure they are reaching their full potential.
  • Promote positive behaviour and a supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and stimulating setting, adhering to health and safety policies.
  • Follow all safeguarding policies and procedures of the nursery
  • Work collaboratively and enthusiastically with a team to ensure high standards of care and education.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/carers, keeping them informed about their child’s progress.

Requirements:

  • Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years Education or Childcare (or equivalent).
  • GCSEs in Maths and English are essential.
  • Previous experience working in a nursery or early years setting is desirable.
  • Sound understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Strong communication skills and a caring, patient approach.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Paediatric first aid, a current safeguarding certificate and a food hygiene certificate are desirable.
