What will I be doing?

The core purpose of the role is to:

  • Provide advice and guidance to children/young people, families and schools, to encourage their involvement in the school environment, encourage the positive participation of the students in the learning environment of the school, and improve the learning opportunities for those students.
  • Investigate the circumstances behind absences or contributing causing children and young people to be unable to make best use of time at school and, if appropriate, help resolve difficulties and identify areas that may be of concern in the near future.
  • Enable the focus of attention on likely causes to provide a preventative option for the school and other agencies.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

It will be necessary for the successful candidate to be able to travel between schools and some home visits will be necessary. Therefore the ability to drive is considered necessary for the role.
