Chilthorne Domer is a small village of approximately 550 inhabitants, between Yeovil and Ilchester.  The Parish Council has seven councillors and meets monthly, on the first Thursday of the month at 7.30pm, in the Village Hall.

What will I be doing?

The clerk is responsible for preparing meeting agendas, taking minutes and publishing these on the parish council website. Other responsibilities include dealing with correspondence and planning applications, and managing the website. As RFO, the clerk is responsible for managing the Council’s bank account, initiating payments and keeping records of income and expenditure.  The RFO advises the Council on financial matters, and assists the Council in preparing its annual budget and year-end accounts, and submitting a return to the auditor.

The clerk is expected to work an average of 14 hours per month, including attending meetings as well as working from home.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

The candidate should have a working knowledge of standard IT programmes such as Word and Excel.  Some experience in general finance and local government is desirable. The Council will consider supporting training where appropriate.
