What will I be doing?

We are seeking to appoint a Pastoral Assistant to support in the coordination and development of our in-school Enhanced Provision, Springboard. Springboard supports students with Social, Emotional, Mental Health, including those with an EBSA profile, as well as students with social communication needs and medical needs that require a reduced timetable or exam load.

The role will include:

  • Supporting the day to day operation of Springboard.
  • Ensuring accurate tracking and monitoring of pupil attendance and progress
  • Supporting students accessing Springboard, liaising with class teachers and other support staff to ensure progress towards outcomes.
  • Assisting with planning and delivering 1:1 mentoring and small group interventions
  • Facilitate the successful integration for students to Springboard from home and from Springboard to mainstream lessons.
  • Ensure high quality work and feedback is provided to all students accessing Springboard
  • Maintaining parent – school communication, often acting as primary point of contact, ensuring welfare checks are completed where needed.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

Candidates must have experience of working with children and/or young people and the ability to engage constructively with students from a wide range of backgrounds. Experience of working in an education setting and with students with social, emotional and mental health needs would be an advantage but is not essential. Empathy, resilience and a positive, flexible approach are all important qualities.
