We are a small, friendly, fun and supportive preschool based in the rural village of Churchinford in the heart of the Blackdown Hills. We take children from
18months up to statutory school age and we take pride on being able to give each child the individual care, time and attention they need to grow and thrive.
As a registered CIO, we are run by a group of supportive Trustees.
What will I be doing?
We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic new manage to run the preschool.
This role would be suited to an organised individual with a passion for early years care and education. This is a managerial role and the ideal candidate will
have excellent proven leadership skills, be patient, kind and caring and have the ability to build strong, supportive relationships with the children, parents, staff and trustees.
This role will work alongside our deputy manager and report directly to the Trustees.
Main Responsibilities:
- The manager will be responsible for the smooth running of the Preschool and manage a high-quality standard in the Preschool.
- To ensure that the Preschool is safe, stimulating and compliant with EYFS, Ofsted, Local Authorities, relevant bodies and safeguarding requirements.
- To manage and deliver against agreed Key Performance Indicators and aspects of Preschool financial and operational management
- Promote positive relationships with parents, children and colleagues in addition to providing leadership in training staff.
Your Role will include:
- Ensuring high standards of care and education of all the children in accordance with statutory requirements
- Building and maintaining excellent relationships with children, parents, staff and trustees
- Implementing the EYFS curriculum
- Ensuring the nurseries policies and procedures are followed throughout the setting and developing/implementing them if needed
- Contributing and participating in the development of new ideas
- Ensuring the nursery conforms to and exceeds the requirements of Ofsted
- Keeping up to date on all childcare issues
- Ensuring that the ratios are maintained at all times
- Contributing to the strategic planning, monitoring, evaluation and development of the Preschool
- Ordering and maintaining equipment and resources
- Organising and monitoring children at the setting
- Ensuring all staff carry out regular risk assessment checks both inside and outside the setting
- Identifying staff training needs and facilitate training opportunities
- Providing constructive, honest feedback to support and encourage all the staff
- Working closely with outside agencies
- Maintaining accurate and up to date personnel records for all employees within the Preschool
- Will be required to sort and organise funding from Somerset County Council and billing each term.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
Candidate Requirements:
- A minimum of an NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or equivalent or above
- Previous experience as a Preschool or Nursery Manager
- The ability to lead a team
- Excellent knowledge of the EYFS and Ofsted requirements
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Great time keeping and attendance record
- Good IT skills
