What will I be doing?

he Professional Practitioner is a key role dedicated to supporting families in overcoming challenges and improving their overall wellbeing. This role involves providing direct intervention services, developing individualised support plans, and working collaboratively with other professionals to ensure comprehensive care. The practitioner will engage with families to address issues such as parenting, family dynamics, and crisis management, aiming to foster a safe and nurturing environment for all family members.

What you’ll do – key responsibilities

• Assess children, young people and families, identifying risk and delivering effective, evidence-based interventions.
• Provide targeted, intensive support to improve outcomes and promote family self-reliance.
• Maintain clear records and reports to support multi-agency decision-making.
• Work collaboratively with partners to safeguard children and maximise impact.
• Build strong relationships and influence positive change with families and professionals.
• Lead on complex cases, modelling good practice and supporting others.
• Supervise and develop Family Intervention Workers to ensure high-quality delivery.
• Contribute to out-of-hours rapid response cover.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

• Relevant degree (or equivalent experience) and a commitment to evidence-based practice.
• Experience supporting children, young people, and families with complex needs.
• Strong assessment, decision-making, and case management skills.
• Knowledge of adolescent development, attachment, and family-focused interventions.
• Ability to build effective partnerships and work confidently with other professionals.
• Creative, solution-focused approach with the ability to work independently and manage risk effectively.
• Supervisory or mentoring experience is desirable.

Supporting documents and information

• Permanent, 37 Hour position.
• Flexible working available, using a hybrid model – working from home, where possible, and your contracted work base.
• 30 day’s annual leave (additional to bank holidays).
• This role requires access to a vehicle with business insurance as some of your time will be spent in the community completing direct interventions with children, young people and families.
• Please note that part of the role of Professional Practitioner is a supervisory role for our out of hours and weekend duty service. This requires rota’d shifts of ‘Lates’ (2pm -10pm) and ‘earlies’ (7am – 3pm) alternating every 6 weeks, including weekends
