Key information

  • You will be based across four registration offices in the Somerset / North Somerset area. Clevedon, Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea and Bridgwater. You may be required to travel between offices at short notice so the ability to travel is essential
  • 16 hours per week annualised contract (832 hours per year) Days of work will be agreed with your manager.
  • 28 days annual leave (pro rata for part time)
  • You will be responsible for delivering key life events for the residents of Somerset
  • The role requires some weekend working, including Bank Holidays. You will receive a rota in advance to enable you to plan ahead.

This role may not be what you expect, the work of a Registration Officer can be varied and sometimes challenging but also very rewarding. In any one day you can expect to carry out a variety of registration duties from births, deaths, marriages, and civil partnerships through to Welcome ceremonies, still birth registrations and death-bed weddings.

We are looking to recruit a Part-time Registration Officer based across the Somerset / North Somerset patch. Although based in Weston-super-Mare, you will be expected to work across our teams in other areas of the county. You will need to have the ability to travel around the county on occasion.

  • You will need to enjoy working with members of the public and have a desire to deliver as positive an experience as possible at key events in their lives. With a high degree of professionalism
  • You need to possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written, proficient all-round IT skills including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • You will need to be able to work effectively in a team environment, consistently, and collaboratively across various teams and locations.
  • You will need to possess effective personal organisational skills and the ability to balance conflicting priorities whilst maintaining accountability for your own workload, taking accountability for own workload.

  • You will be customer focused and have a desire to deliver a positive experience at key events in people’s lives., This requires a high degree of professionalism and accuracy
  • You will possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written, proficient all-round IT skills including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Grades 9-4 (A* – C/Level 4) in English and Maths or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths or equivalent
