What will I be doing?

The Displaced People Service is recruiting for an organised, flexible and dynamic full-time Resettlement Worker, who can manage competing demands in this unique service. The roles will sit within the the integration team of the service. You will work on family cases and also in the Somerset network of Welcome Hubs. You will work within standard operating procedures and the funding instructions from central government.

The Displaced People service is a friendly team, who work very closely to ensure the very best outcomes for those we support. We are excited to welcome two new members to our team who take a proactive approach to support, pay attention to detail, and are able to build strong professional relationships with families and partners. Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing needs in the service is an essential part of the role, including the ability to adapt to unexpected situations in a professional manner. The roles will involve working with families remotely, in their own homes or in community settings.

The role is a full-time, fixed term contract until March 2026. We offer a hybrid working environment, your office base can be any of the Council buildings. You will need to be able to travel when required. While this is a full-time post, consideration will be given for requests between 30-37 hours per week. Job share may be considered.

We’re working to improve the lives of displaced people now living in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Preparing accommodation before families arrive, including being a point of contact for key services upon arrival.
  • Assisting families to understand UK systems and ensuring they know how to access services.
  • Developing pathways to independence and integration in their local community.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you:

  • have previous experience of working with vulnerable groups
  • have good organisational skills, record-keeping, and confident working. independently and collaboratively.
  • have experience of supporting individuals or families to live independently.
