- The contract offered is permanent and full-time (37 hours per week).
What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. As a Resurfacing Supervisor you will oversee, monitor and coordinate the resurfacing and surface treatment works withing Somerset Councils Infrastructure and Transport Directorate. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of resurfacing projects across the county’s highway network.
Your day-to-day work will involve:
- Plan, schedule and oversee a programme of surfacing and surface dressing works, coordinating with contractors, internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Undertake regular site inspections to monitor contractors work, ensuring compliance with contract specifications, industry standards and statutory requirements.
- Ensure all works are delivered in line with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation.
- Act as a primary point of contact for contractors, council colleagues, elected members and the public.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you have:
- NVQ Level 3 in Construction Site Supervision or equivalent.
- Certification in Health and Safety in Construction.
- Certification in Traffic Management.
- Understanding of road resurfacing techniques, health and safety regulations related to road works and familiarity with traffic management systems and procedures.
- Proven experience in supervising road resurfacing projects.
- Experience in conducting site inspections and ensuring quality control.
This role involves frequent travel across rural areas of Somerset and lone working on occasion.
