What will I be doing?

We are looking to recruit a Safeguarding and SEN Co-ordinator to work as part of our safeguarding team and as an assistant to the Special Educational Needs Coordinator.

The successful candidate will play a key administrative role within both the safeguarding team and in support of the SENCo. As these areas often overlap, the role will involve coordinating and streamlining processes that contribute to the effective delivery of support for vulnerable pupils and those with additional needs.

Responsibilities will include maintaining accurate and confidential records, supporting the organisation of meetings and reviews, managing communications with parents and external agencies, and assisting with the preparation of reports and documentation required for safeguarding and SEN provision.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

Whilst holding HLTA status is not a requirement, we are looking for someone with relevant experience in safeguarding and/or special educational needs. A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with additional needs, along with a compassionate and proactive approach, will be highly valued.

The successful candidate will display a range of attributes/characteristics, including being:

  • able to build positive and trusting relationships with colleagues, pupils and parents
  • emotionally resilient
  • passionate about the welfare of children
  • highly organised, ICT proficient and an effective communicator
  • a dedicated team player
  • caring, positive and enthusiastic
  • able to work effectively using their own initiative

The person appointed would be expected to work collaboratively with the Headteacher, SENCo and other members of the staff team, all relevant external agencies and most importantly children and families.
