What will I be doing?

We are looking for an organised, professional and compassionate Safeguarding Casework Co-ordinator to provide high-quality administrative and casework support to our school’s safeguarding and pastoral team.

This is an important role within the school and would suit someone who is highly organised, confident in communicating with a wide range of people and able to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Working closely with our safeguarding team, you will help ensure that safeguarding casework is effectively co-ordinated, actions are followed up and accurate records and chronologies are maintained. The role will include arranging and supporting safeguarding and multi-agency meetings, taking and distributing minutes, liaising with professionals and external services, monitoring agreed actions and maintaining safeguarding trackers and documentation.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

You will need to be confident communicating by telephone and email with staff, families and external professionals and comfortable following up outstanding information or actions when required. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritise a varied workload are essential.

Previous administrative experience is essential, ideally within an education or similar environment. Knowledge or experience of safeguarding children would be an advantage, although we are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate the right skills, judgement and willingness to undertake further training.

The successful candidate will have excellent IT, written and verbal communication skills and, importantly, the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately. They will be proactive, reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Working pattern

The role is 20 hours per week, term-time only plus two additional weeks per year. We ideally require the hours to be worked across five days, Monday to Friday, at four hours per day, as the role provides ongoing support to the safeguarding function throughout the school week.

Approximately once every three weeks, the postholder will be required to work on a Tuesday until 5.00pm to support safeguarding meetings. Hours on those days will be adjusted accordingly within the contracted weekly hours.
