North Newton Primary School can be found in the village of North Newton, just a few minutes from J24 of the M5 in Somerset. We currently have 89 children on roll across 4 classes.

What will I be doing?
We are seeking a reliable, practical, and proactive School Handyman to join our team. The successful candidate will help maintain a safe and well-presented environment for pupils, staff, and visitors.
This is a varied hands-on role involving general maintenance, minor repairs, decorating, and supporting the day-to-day upkeep of the school premises.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out small general maintenance jobs and repair work around the school site
- Complete small decorating tasks including painting and touch-ups
- Perform basic plumbing, carpentry, and DIY repairs
- Assemble and move furniture and equipment as required
- Report larger maintenance issues to School Business Manager
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
- Previous experience in general maintenance, caretaking, handyman, or facilities work
- Practical DIY skills across a range of maintenance tasks
- Basic decorating experience
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- A friendly and professional attitude
- Understanding of health and safety practices
- Reliability, flexibility, and a strong work ethic
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience working in a school or similar environment
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrics, or joinery
- Health & Safety or relevant maintenance qualifications
