• SSE Outdoors has seasonal positions starting early in 2025.
• Positions will be across all 4 of our centres with primary places of work including: Charterhouse (2 positions available) Kilve Court (7 Positions available) and Great Wood (1 position available)
• We offer a comprehensive CPD support package and funding is available for training. The role will involve working evenings, overnights and weekends.
• Annual leave of up to 25 days per year (pro rata) increasing after 5 years.

What will I be doing?

We enable young people to discover what they can do – not what they can’t. Every child is encouraged to imagine, discover and achieve, and our fantastic instructors are the people who make this happen.

• Kilve Court is superbly located on the Quantock Hills in a stunning area of outstanding natural beauty and with Kilve beach only a stone’s throw away SSE Outdoors are adding to a team of lead instructors.
• Charterhouse has a warm and welcoming feeling It’s located on the Mendip hills and is ideally situated for access the local crags and caves.
• Great Wood is a hidden gem in the Quantock woodland.
• We are driven by a passion for residential outdoor learning where life lessons are learnt, and memories will be cherished. We want more amazing people to join our team.
• We’re looking for a passionate person who loves the outdoors. To come and join the team.
• Role will include delivering high quality, exemplary outdoor sessions,
• Helping to develop both onsite and offsite sessions
• Working as part of a team to ensure a quality residential stay for all groups
• Giving the young people of somerset a chance to engage with adventurous activities
• Working with all departments to ensure a smooth stay for all groups
• Learning about all activity equipment and completing safety inspections

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

• At least one year working in the outdoors with young people.
• In-house experience of onsite activities (such as low ropes) and/or 2 NGBs (such as Archery GB, Lowland Leader, Climbing Wall Instructor or paddle sport instructor.
• A first aid certificate is essential for the role, however training will be arranged if necessary.
• All of our instructors will be able to take advantage of gaining qualifications in mountain biking, paddle sports, outdoor first aid and target sports, funded by SSE Outdoors, as well as the opportunity for D1 training.

DBS check

This role requires a criminal background check via the Disclosure (DBS) procedure.

The salary for the role is Grade 15 ranging from Grade 15: £24,027 – £24,404 per annum
