Key information

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, flexible person to work within our Early Years KS1 and or Year 5 classroom to support with SEN requirements.

Year Group : Year 1 / 5

What will I be doing?

You will support social, emotional and behavioural needs as well as their learning within the classroom. The role would involve delivering flexible and proactive interventions, led by the teacher to support and secure progress. You should be prepared to provide intimate care.  You should have empathy and be prepared to use emotion coaching, de-escalation strategies and where necessary, positive handling techniques (you will be trained for this). Ideally, the candidate would be able to deliver specific interventions over short periods (including 1:1 and small group work).

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

You should offer:

  • Experience of working with children with challenging behaviour and emotions
  • A calm, positive, consistent and patient approach to supporting children
  • Experience of supporting learning within the classroom
  • The ability to work well as part of a team.
  • The ability to adapt to change
