Kingston St Mary is a small, popular rural primary school. We are situated in a beautiful setting at the foot of the Quantock Hills, to the north of Taunton.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in liaising with SEN Teams in Local Authorities.
- Experience in coordinating pupil-centred annual reviews and providing timely reports.
- Experience in supporting neuro-diverse children or with ASC and SEMH and an understanding of potential implications for communication, learning and behaviour patterns.
- Demonstrable experience in raising outcomes for pupils with neuro-diverse needs whilst promoting a culture of inclusion.
- Working knowledge of Safeguarding & Child Protection Procedures, the National Curriculum, Key Stage requirements and Code of Practice for SEND.
Skills and ability:
- Able to promote and celebrate diversity and equal opportunities.
- Offer a calm response to children with ASC and SEMH and always promote de-escalation and emotional regulation.
- Collaborate and work creatively, interpreting the SEN Code of Practice to support pupils.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience in writing and keeping effective records and reports for a range of audiences, using proficient IT skills.
- Prioritise workload effectively; organised with attention to detail.
- Be aware of new developments in practice and policy that affect the role.
- All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
