What will I be doing?
Inaura School is a small, specialist SEMH school nestled in the Somerset countryside, where we work 1:1 with extraordinary young people who need something different. We pride ourselves on being a safe, supportive and inclusive environment and believe that learning should be inspiring, relational, and rooted in trust. A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team, as the SENDCo role becomes available for the first time in many years. We are looking for someone to build on the strong foundations already in place and continue our commitment to providing outstanding support for students with complex SEND. For the right candidate, this position offers the potential to join the Senior Leadership Team, allowing you to have a broader impact on the strategic direction of SEND provision across the school.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Leading and coordinating high-quality SEND provision across the school, ensuring every EHCP is a living, meaningful plan
- Championing the needs of students with SEMH, working closely with families, staff, and external professionals
- Planning and chairing Annual Reviews, and ensuring statutory compliance with EHCP processes and timeframes
- Supporting colleagues through advice, coaching, and CPD on trauma-informed, relational approaches
- Overseeing Access Arrangements in line with JCQ guidance, ensuring fair and consistent exam support
- Contributing to whole-school strategy and improvement with a clear, compassionate SEND perspective.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
- Is passionate about inclusive education and sees the child before the label
- Has strong SEND knowledge and leadership experience, ideally in an SEMH or specialist setting
- Builds warm, trusting relationships with young people, families, and professionals
- Thrives in a collaborative, emotionally intelligent team and models kindness and integrity
- Brings calm confidence to complex situations — and a sense of humour when it’s needed most
- Can drive strategic change while keeping students’ voices at the centre of every decision
What is in it for me?

- A role that genuinely changes lives.
- Professional development in therapeutic practice.
- A peaceful and creative setting in Somerset.
