What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of children and young people who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and their parent/carers here in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work in the SENDIAS service will involve:
- Offering free, impartial, information, advice and support regarding SEN Support provision in schools and educational settings.
- Support parents/carers to prepare for and attend meetings with schools and educational settings for their children with SEND.
- Support children and young people to have their voices heard and help them participate in meetings or reviews.
- Attend parent/carer groups and fun days to promote the work of SENDIAS.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you:
- Are educated to a good standard, typically at least NVQ Level 3.
- Have experience of working with families.
- Have Knowledge and experience of working with children and young people with SEND.
- Have knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and the Somerset Graduated Response toolkit.
