This essential role manages and oversees the implementation of developer led and third-party highway infrastructure delivery projects through the effective technical administration of legal agreements principally pursuant to Section 106 Town and Country Planning Act 1990 and Section 278 Highways Act 1980.

  • This role offers hybrid working, allowing you to work either from home or from one of our offices.
  • 30 days’ annual leave (plus bank holidays).
  • Permanent 37 hour position.

What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Reporting to the Principal Development Infrastructure Officer in the Development Engineering Team, your day-to-day work as a Senior Development Infrastructure Officer will involve:

  • Managing and overseeing the implementation of developer led and third-party highway infrastructure delivery projects through effective technical administration of legal agreements and licences.
  • Providing a key role in ensuring the progression of legal agreements through to completion of the infrastructure which will involve investigation, liaison with multiple teams internal to the Council, liaison with multiple parties external to the Council and prepare detailed correspondence and reports.
  • Acting as the principal point of contact for developers, designers, contractors, interest groups and members of the public with respect to specific developers, development portfolios and/or key development sites.
  • Supporting colleagues in the preparation of financial accounts principally relating to fee income, cash bonds, commuted sums and contributions.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

  • Proven experience in overseeing the delivery of new highway infrastructure via agreements under Section 278 Highways Act and Section 106 Town and Country Planning Act, post planning consent through to adoption.
  • Are competent liaising with clients, consultants, contractors, other public bodies and members of the public on complex project, legal and technical matters.
  • Have a track record of working with teams and managing projects by prioritising workloads and delivering to deadlines.
  • Are self-motivated, enthusiastic, confident, work well within a team environment and strive to deliver high quality services.
  • Can successfully manage complex projects in a proactive and diligent manner.
