Key information
Finance Officer to join our Finance team. You will play a vital role in the day-to-day financial operations of Somerset’s largest youth work charity.
Location: Taunton (with flexibility for some remote working)
Hours: Full-time or Part-time (minimum 28 hours per week)
What will I be doing?
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you’ll lead on maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and preparing reports. You will ensure robust financial management across our services and support teams with timely, relevant financial information to aid decision-making.
- Manage purchase and sales ledgers and oversee credit control
- Process bank transactions and reconciliations
- Support monthly and year-end reporting, including journal posting and draft accounts preparation
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and ensure accurate allocation of income and expenditure
- Maintain the charity’s Fixed Asset Register and process Gift Aid claims
- Be the first point of contact for finance-related queries
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial policies, systems and charity accounting requirements
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
- AAT Level 3 qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience in a finance role, preferably within the charity or non-profit sector
- Proficiency in using finance systems (ideally Xero) and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines and prioritise tasks
