What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:
- Managing a caseload and provide a holistic assessment, planning, intervention and support service to young people in and leaving care, and those who have left care aged 16-25 years, taking on the statutory function of Personal Adviser for those over 18.
- Assisting Leaving Care Team Leaders in the day to day running of the team, offering advice and guidance to members of the team on complex cases, assisting with conflict resolution and acting as a mentor to new staff. Take a lead role for the team in working with social workers in the development of young people’s first Pathway Plan.
- Supervising apprentices and volunteers and/or a Leaving Care Worker working with the service.
- Delivering training for new staff and carers and Continuing Practice Development (CPD) sessions about Leaving Care issues to other Children’s Social Care Professionals.
- Taking a lead role by representing the team with partner departments and agencies.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be.
But it will really help if you have:
- A levels or at least 5 GCSEs at Grade C/Level 4 and above or equivalent.
- A vocational qualification or an ability to demonstrate competence against occupational standards equivalent to Level 3 Qualification Credit Framework Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce.
