32.5 hours per week 39 Weeks per year. (Term time plus INSET days)

Avalon School is a Specialist School for students aged 11-19 situated in the town of Street. Our school vision is ‘Learning for Life’ – together with our parents and the learners themselves – we aim to teach skills for the whole of life. What will I be doing?

We are seeking positive, enthusiastic and dynamic candidates, able to demonstrate flexibility, empathy and excellent communication skills.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Provide mentoring for new support staff
  • Provide a professional role model for other staff
  • To support the admin roles of the class teacher in terms of
    • Keeping pupil files up to date
    • Ensuring that resources are prepared and ready for learning
  • To be the first point of call in their absence
  • To teach groups under the direction of the class teacher
  • To teach the whole class, short term in the absence of the class teacher
  • To plan and prepare lessons for groups you are teaching
  • To deliver training to other staff within the federation
