What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of people here in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. As a Senior Surveyor, you will use your professional skills and experience to project manage and lead on various home adaptation projects from inception to completion.
We are looking for an exceptional individual for a vacancy in the Home Adaptation team. The Surveyor will be managing, delivering and supervising a range of adaptations and alterations to properties. Ensuring the financial and legislative risks are managed and to deliver safe compliant accessible homes.
You would be joining a busy team who deal with a wide range of statutory services which include disabled facilities grants, home adaptations and property interventions.
Strong interpersonal skills are essential. You will need to be organised, self-motivated, with a strong customer focus, but also a good team player. We are looking for applicants who can demonstrate an adaptable and flexible approach, a can-do-attitude and an ability to work on your own initiative.
Your day-to-day work will involve:
- To offer support and provide technical guidance on property related queries, carrying out property feasibility studies and scope of works.
- Preparing and submitting planning and building regulations applications including design duties using AutoCAD.
- Communicating with and developing relationships with stakeholders at all levels customers over the phone, by email and by letter.
- Processing a range applications and dealing with statutory consultations.
- Contract management and monitoring of progress and quality of building work.
- Undertakes principal designer/designer and client roles under CDM regulations.
- Managing projects from conception to completion.

- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively across multiple teams.
- Meticulous working with a strong drive for accuracy.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages such as Excel, Word and SharePoint.
- Prior experience as a building surveyor (or similar role) delivering a wide range of building and improvement projects.
- Educated to HNC/D Level in surveying or relevant professional qualification.
