About the Trust
The Academies for Character and Excellence is a dynamic and innovative Multi Academy Trust of twenty primary schools across Devon, Torbay and Somerset. Our shared outcomes are rooted in excellence and each school is committed to a strong ethos and culture.
We live our mission of achieving excellence through cultivating character, sharing talents and pursuing innovation. We are truly collaborative and work together within and across our schools to ensure that all children and staff achieve their potential.
We are proud of our outcomes, but we aspire to achieve more than academic excellence. We want our children to become healthy thinkers, curious explorers, caring citizens, knowledgeable participants and confident individuals.
About Stoberry Park Primary School
Stoberry Park Primary School is nestled at the foot of the Mendip Hills. The school is driven by its values of Integrity, Compassion, Creativity, Courage and Curiosity, encouraging pupils to become active learners who are interested in enhancing their own learning and engaging positively with the wider community.
The school is invested in developing its curriculum and has fantastic grounds in which the children have the space to flourish. The team at Stoberry are committed to ensuring that every child thrives, and pupils follow a varied and active curriculum designed to build character and the confidence to prepare them for the future.
The school’s vision is for children to become independent drivers of positive change for themselves, their school, the local community and beyond. As a school family, Stoberry Park shares a passionate commitment to learning and recognises the uniqueness of individual learners.
What will I be doing?
We are seeking to appoint an experienced SENDCo to champion inclusion across our school, working in partnership with pupils, families and staff to remove barriers to learning and enable every child to achieve their full potential. The SENDCo will be an important member of the school’s leadership team, working closely with the headteacher and other staff to drive a culture of high expectations and support for all children.
As well as being a key part of the team at Stoberry, the successful candidate will join a network of committed and experienced SENDCos across the Trust, working together to further develop approaches to inclusive education. Professional development will be bespoke, with support from experienced Trust leaders and opportunities through the Trust’s Talent Management programme.
The successful candidate will:
- Support SEND children and their families through identifying barriers to learning and adopting strategies that help overcome these
- Demonstrate a commitment to an inclusive education for all children through working with staff and families to formulate personal plans for improvement
- Demonstrate knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and an understanding of the EHCP process and Early Help services to support pupils and families
- Work alongside teachers to provide advice and develop impactful class strategies
- Monitor and evaluate the quality and impact of SEND provision across the school
- Form positive relationships; inspire and motivate all children to enable them to be the best that they can be
- Keep up-to-date, accurate records of support and its impact on SEND provision
- Review and update all records to ensure that statutory requirements are met
- Work in partnership with the Headteacher, LAB and wider community to ensure that our mission and ethos is translated into action
- Participate in Trust-wide inclusion meetings
- Attend meetings with parents, teachers and other providers to ensure all pupils’ needs are met
- Ensure an inclusive school experience for all learners, not just those with SEND
- Work with the wider team to close the gap for vulnerable and disadvantaged learners
- Hold the National SENDCo Qualification or have a willingness to work towards the qualification
What is in it for me?
- An exciting and innovative Trust that will inspire and allow you to reach your full potential
